FAQ
Some of the question we get asked in the distillery when we are open.
- Is that a working still?
-
We get this one more often then you would think. Yes the still in the corner of the cocktail lounge is a working still. It is what we use to distill all our spirits.
- Isnt vodka made from potato?
-
While yes some vodka is made from potato, however it is only about 4% of production. Traditionally vodka is made from cereal grains mostly wheat or rye.
- When was vodka first produced?
-
Vodka in a raw low % form dates back to around the 9th century in Poland. It was used medicinally, possibly in tinctures and the like.
- Is Panezski your surname?
-
No it isnt it is a play on our names being "PA" from Paul and "NEZ" instead of Ness for Vanessa and "SKI" to have a more european feel.
- Are you Polish?
-
Vanessa has the Polish heritage with her Grandparents being displaced persons after WWII coming to Australia in 1949.
- What made you go into a distillery?
-
This one we often still ask ourselves. We tell everyone it was our midlife crisis. However a little more truth was we had just sold another side business and while sitting in Melbourne airport after showing the new owners how to do things, we thought whats next. And well why not.
